Wine No! Climate Change Could Hurt Grape Crops
(AP) WASHINGTON A government report says climate changes could be bad for California wine grapes.
The National Academy of Sciences paper says a warmer climate could reduce areas suitable for growing wine grapes in the United States by up to 81 percent by the end of the century.
It says California’s Napa and Sonoma valleys could be among the regions that suffer.
But the researchers say some parts of the Pacific Northwest and other areas with higher humidity levels might actually see better grape-growing conditions.
Oregon State University food science professor James Kennedy calls the paper a „bit of a shocker“ for the wine industry.
